Santa Catalina Island
After a four hour sail from Newport Beach, CA, overnight at Santa Catalina Islands Avalon Bay (two-day minimum), a beautiful Mediterranean-like full-service island and village rising up the mountainside from the sparkling bay where you'll sleep at anchor or mooring and go ashore by local water taxi ... or row ashore and back in Dulcinea's dingy. (The music goes on but the taxi stops at midnight.) Avalon offers restaurants and bars, shops, bed and breakfasts, concerts and theater, the Casino, shower facilities, hiking trails, golf, bike rentals and... mooring off the palm-tree lined Descanso Beach.
Santa Catalina Island
Anchor out at numerous remote coves and beaches around Santa Catalina Island and swim, snorkel, sun bathe, hike ashore, beach comb, and dine out.... at night, at anchor. Special arrangements can be made for an anniversary, birthday, special event, ...honeymoon.
Off Oxnard and Santa Barbara, the Channel Islands offer remote and unspoiled anchorage and beaches for swimming, snorkeling, sun bathing, and hiking Nature Conservancy trails through long abandoned olive groves and windswept and sun-drenched canyons. No facilities - grilled dining at anchor. Four day minimum from Newport Beach/Balboa.
Sail and sunbathe on Dulcinea's ample deck, whale watch, anchor out at Emerald Cove or Laguna Beach and snorkel the reef, swim, and picnic on-board. Hands-on sailing and instruction or kick back and be the total guest on board this comfortable vessel. Hammock also furnished.
Whale Watch (hopefully)
Half day in your own personal vessel as the gray whales migrate to the Baja in the fall and return to Alaskan waters in the spring, two to ten miles offshore.
